This album is a tragedy because when you listen to it and compare it to the junk the BEPs churn out today, it shows just how much they fell off. I can't put into words what a tragedy this album is. Once upon a time, hip-hop was about having a good time and (brace yourselves) getting down! Because it's a favourite album of mine I've tried to write a review for this album now several times... but I Just can't. Their new stuff in the charts is so, so bad, and this is so, so good - the mind boggles at what happened to lead them astray so badly to where they are today?
So in the same year that Jurassic 5 complete their first proper release and De La Soul finally return, is there any room for a group like BEP anymore? They reinvigorated blasé dance floors and seduced discriminating heads with their debut, Behind the Front, and they do it again on Bridging the Gap.
