In those 22 games, James is averaging 34.1 points, … LeBron Raymone James Twitter: KingJames (King … He also added a Finals MVP award with each ring.James may not have the championships to match Jordan, but his post-season numbers still tell a story.In fact, according to ESPN, James has scored more playoff points (6,911) than 10 franchises in the league since 2004.While stats can so often tell the story, it is hard to compare the numbers Jordan and James posted due to the simple fact that they played in very different eras.To make this clear, when Jordan started up playing college basketball at North Carolina, there was no such thing as a 3-point line.He averaged just 1.7 three-point attempts per game during his career and shot at 32.7 per cent.During James’ career, the 3-point line challenged players to continue to evolve and become more willing to back themselves.We can appreciate both Jordan and James’ greatness but it is difficult to brand one as better than the other.Jordan was a scoring freak, beating out James in points and free-throw percentage but interestingly, James has the slight advantage in most of the other areas.He averages more rebounds, assists and blocks per playoff game than Jordan — he’s an accomplished all-rounder.Jordan still holds plenty of playoffs records though, including the most points in a game (63 in the Bulls’ double-overtime defeat at the hands of the Celtics) and 60 consecutive games with at least 20 points.While James may have passed Jordan as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in postseason history in 2017, he took 33 more games to achieve the feat.Jordan has the advantage as the holder of the all-time highest PER and Box Plus/Minus but again James has the decisive lead when it comes to win shares and VORP.Jordan’s superior average points per game (33.4) gives him a slight edge over James but the two are both champions in the post-season in their own respects.Another key area of contention that comes up when debating the legacies of Jordan and James is the quality of the opposition they faced off against.The best way to try and come to a conclusion here is to break down both their opponents in the playoffs and Finals by winning percentage.While Jordan faced tougher conference teams, his opponents in the Finals were not as difficult to topple.In fact, Jordan’s Bulls were favourites in all six of their Finals - they are widely considered the best sporting team in history for a reason - this was a side stacked with talent but the quality of teammates will be considered next.In contrast, James’ path to championship rings had more hurdles, primarily in the form of the Golden State Warriors.The 2015-19 Warriors were certainly a Golden era and now comes the tough part, with the success waning as the side looks to rebuild and be back contending for the title.During that period though, they were unstoppable even breaking the Bulls’ record for the best regular season when they finished with a 73-9 record in the 2015-16 season.Although, as unstoppable as they looked, James would eventually lead the Cavs to a stunning title win with a 4-3 Finals victory.James made eight-straight Finals appearances but only left with three rings — two with Miami and one with the Cavaliers.The three Finals with Golden State between 2015 and 2017 rate as more difficult than any side Jordan and the Bulls came up against, with both the Seattle Supersonics and Utah Jazz (.780) their hardest opponents.Jordan by no means had it easy though, with a tougher road through the playoffs.The hardest team he faced off against would have been the 1985-86 Celtics, considered one of if not the greatest team of all-time.They boasted a 40-1 record at home, five Hall-of-Famers and went 15-3 in the playoffs all the way to championship glory.Jordan broke his foot three games into the regular season and missed 64 games but was able to return fast enough to compete in the postseason, where he set the still unmatched record for points in a playoff game with 63 in Game 2 against Boston.Jordan also had to contend with a Milwaukee outfit that boasted 59 regular season wins in 1985 and the league’s best defence.James’ amazing streak of 21-straight first-round playoff wins was snapped in 2018 by the Pacers.So, both could make arguments when it comes to quality of opposition.Jordan faced a tougher road to the Finals but James was up against it when he got to that point.There has been a lot made about James benefiting from a weak Eastern Conference but this shouldn’t take away from his eight consecutive finals appearances, although it gives the slight advantage to Jordan here.Just look at their 1996-95 side - boasting Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Toni Kukoc and a 67-15 record.The only other teams that come to mind when thinking of any who could challenge their greatness include the 1985-86 Celtics, 1986-87 Lakers, 2012-13 Heat and 2016-17 Warriors.Twitter user and analytics manager Jacob L.
