He drives back to his and Glenna's apartment where he is attacked by Eric, just narrowly escaping. ... and he means to use it to find the man who killed Merrin and destroyed his life. Puzzled, Ig heads to his doctor's where the receptionist flips out over an unruly child in the waiting room and Dr. Renald (Alex Zahara, "Open Range") takes advantage of Ig's anaesthesia to schtup his nurse, the horn amputation proving fruitless. The movie begins like a Grimm Brothers fairy tale - or a love scene from "Twilight" - as Ig and Merrin cuddle in a lush forest ('Are you horny?' Lee viciously beats Ig and tosses him in Ig's Lee Tourneau's adult life (as a close associate of a Lee also remembers an experience from his childhood in which he attempted to feed and befriend a stray cat, only to be swatted at, causing him to fall from a fence and hit his head; he is impaled in the head by the spike of a pitchfork and is severely brain damaged; he undergoes a hallucination in which he perceives things as God would, and murders the cat.
He becomes consumed with this mission and this mission only.
Ig then goes to the cherry tree that once held the Treehouse of the Mind to find that a line of fire has reached it from the foundry. A melee ensues. Desperately, the gruesomely injured Ig crawls over to a gasoline canister, hoping that he can light himself on fire quick enough to restore his diabolic flesh and get Terry to a hospital. Take your favorite fandoms with you and never miss a beat. God is a failed character too detested by his own creations to appreciate them. He also cannot attack Lee because of the congressman's security team, which includes Eric Hannity, another high school acquaintance. Sometime later, Terry is recuperating from his snakebite, believing (thanks to the influence of Ig's horns) that Eric and Lee killed Ig by burning him in his car, and that the two then tortured Terry with a venomous snake, before they killed one another. Merrin was found murdered in the woods after having a public argument with Ig, so everyone assumes he killed her -- including his family (Kathleen Quinlan, James Remar and Joe Anderson) and his best friend Lee (Max Mingella).
Radcliffe's terrific as the grief stricken outcast who responds devilishly when he learns about his new found powers in this crazy genre mashup directed by Alexandre Aja ("High Tension," "Piranha 3D").
And, he is the prime suspect in Merrin’s murder There is a lot of other stuff going on in “Horns.” Ig can make people bid his will – which leads to a comical interlude of horned Ignatius making the horde of media fight each other for an exclusive. Oftentimes, though the film veers off into darkly humorous interludes of satanic references – not just the horns, but serpents, Ig walking out from a smoking inferno (very nicely shot), a dog barking when Ignatius comes near and, of course, the signature pitchfork. Ig concludes that only the devil loves humans for what they are, despite some of their negative characteristics. When he returns, his mother perceives nothing wrong, not investigating the cause of but rather only reprimanding him for his blood stained pillow cases. Later, at the airport, he is about to board the plane when he is suddenly surrounded by police officers. What he does not know is that it is the last time he will see her in “Horns.”Ig Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) has been in love with Merrin Williams (Juno Temple, "Killer Joe") since they were kids, but on the night he proposes to her, she's brutally murdered and in almost everybody's opinion, Ig killed her.
