He became a skilled rider and he often said that the only reason he ever considered an acting career was to save up enough money to start his own horse farm in his beloved Oklahoma.Then in 1947, after having signed a multi-film contract with Fox Studios, Dale purchased 436.8 acres in Oklahoma’s rolling Canadian River Basin and began building his dream ranch.
